Looking for help with midi file for cool project.

So I was considering doing another space robot video. I was thinking Low Rider by War. I was thinking it’s a groovy tune and “take a little trip” sort of works with the whole space ship thing. I found a midi file “War_-_Low_Rider.mid” and it works well, but it does not include the vocal track. Would anyone be willing to help out by adding it in? I am not good at this, I mean I can’t do it. haha I have some ideas for the music as far as outer-spacing it out a bit. And some video scenes I want to do. It’s really fun.

I haven’t heard that song since the 1970s, but my memory is that it’s a spoken vocal, right? You could get an AI robot to speak it for you.

Yeah it’s barely singing. haha I am trying to avoid AI. If I had the midi track I think I could get an acceptable voice for the video. thanks

yes, that’s the one I’m using. I didn’t see a vocal track.

I don’t understand.

I mean I think I could pick out the notes, but I struggle with the timing. It’s really difficult. Is there another group I maybe should be asking for help in? Or just fuck it, I’ll figure it out. ::slight_smile:

The rhythms don’t seem as tricky as the pitches to me, a pickup to 3 half notes is the beginning but each one of the half notes has an eccentric bend down, more on the first one than the next 2, then 6 eighth notes, 4 connected 2 shorter. And take a little trip is 4 eighth notes and quarter and a rest, but with little bit of swing, almost rushing the second eighth in the pairs but not quite. Should be fun.

Sorry that I sent something wrong. But maybe this will help you a little further. Just activate piano and play it. good luck

As I said, the rhythms I mention are all written out in midi just like I stated, the midi doesn’t impart the slight 12/8 swing of the whole thing but it hits the rhythms I described exactly. Thanks Luca

@cubistguitar Yes, after reading your description, and listening to it more closely it would appear to be beyond my ability. However I found a work-around. I found the isolated original vocals and will use a sampler to play them. I plan to try some effects maybe ring modulation to add some subtle robot feel. Maybe a delay with a pitch shifter in the feedback loop for the “take a little trip” part. yippy.

Just a lazy way of saying I got all the War albums, and I listen to that song.

Oh now I get it… haha!

So I researched how Ozzy did the voice for I am iron man, and apparently he sang into or through a fan. I added Surge XT rotary speaker and got some pretty interesting results. I probably wouldn’t have even thought to try this if I had the midi vocal info in the beginning.

Interesting. I think he sings through a Leslie in planet caravan? btw, I saw them in 1974!
