Local Windows builds missing ASIO

When I build Rack locally on Windows, the resulting Rack doesn’t offer ASIO as an audio driver option. Both retail Rack Free and Pro do. What gives?

FWIW Steinberg has relicensed ASIO under a Dual GPL, so that should no longer be a blockage.

I haven’t done a build recently. Did you do “RTAUDIO_ASIO=1 make dep” ? (makefile link)

The Rack build instructions don’t say to do this, so no, I didn’t do it.

All docs say is make dep.

The doc is in the makefile I linked.

# ASIO is proprietary software owned by Steinberg, so distributing it with your own VCV Rack build would violate Rack's GPLv3 license.
# However, since VCV owns the copyright of all GPL'd code in the Rack package, we include ASIO in the Windows build for convenience to our users.

That comment is obsolete now that Steinberg have GPL’d ASIO.

Support issue opened.

Hopefully the next update will let us not have to do a custom configure to get a Rack build that’s like what gets released.

Thanks for getting me there - I appreciate it!
