License failed to download

Pretty weird. I’ve put the documents into the licences folder of VCV2, but when I restart and re-open rack it still tries to download the licences from the web instead of pulling them from the folder.

@pheek If on Mac, open your documents folder and find the VCV2 folder, when you open it there should be a folder called ‘Licences’, paste the the licences there and well… it should work, but it doesn’t for me. So maybe I’m missing something.

It goes in your user folder, which is \Users\[username]\Documents\Rack2 on Windows (I can find Mac/Linux in a moment). I think you just save the .vcvkey file(s) in the \licenses subdirectory. Someone who did it manually may have more useful insights–I was eventually able to get the application to do it.

Yeah weird… I’m on windows though, maybe there’s an issue with some mac OSs?

My bad G, I was pasting a bunch of licences into the folder because I had a lot of purchased modules, didn’t notice that the Rack licence wasn’t in the mix hahahah Guess I’m to excited… been waiting for this for months hahaha thanks tho!

glad that worked, @Kama! Have a blast.

@pheek, any luck?

Anyone tried opening projects from v1 into v2? although most if not all of the modules I use have been made available for v2, my projects load almost empty…

awesome! yeah for now we can only play with the fundamental… library downloads will be stable only when the server overload will relax a bit I guess

Have you been able to download any in V2? That server is even more on fire than the license server

I think most people, myself included, are Fundamentals-only for a little while longer…

ooh, right… I keep forgetting that there’s about a million people riding the servers like there’s no tomorrow… you reckon that old project will load as normal once the server/downloads stabilise? obviously given that the modules are available in v2

cheers!!

my old Rack 1 patches have been loading into Rack 2 without a problem

good to know that things are looking alright. seems like it’s just the insane server overload which keeps certain users from using everything right now

yeah, took me quite a lot of attempts to get library… eventually it queries what needed to be ‘updated’ but even then, I ended up click each individually to download one at a time, as they kept failing…

Im sure in next few hours it’ll settle down…

Or days, depending on who does initial coverage of it and when it’s released… I’m guessing Andrew is frantically provisioning extra servers as we type.

You’re probably very correct about that… we’ll see what happens, most of my modules have shown up in query, I got a notification that they were also downloaded, but they don’t appear within rack/browser, although the website does show that I indeed have them. So hopefully everything should even out soon

Same here. My paid modules do not show up because of license problems

I assume you had the problem with licence verification when trying to log into vcv. Have you downloaded all the paid licences from the website> They should’ve shown up together with v2 licences so just copy them into the licence folder. Although I’m not entirely sure myself since none of my modules apart from the VCV ones are visible as of yet.

It seems like there are a lot of problems with VCV right now. Sad. I was able to DL the Free version, but I can’t DL any modules right now. I hope the company works it out. There are some great experimental/drone patches I really want to study and learn. I wouldn’t want to have to go back to trying to use Reaktor unless I really have too. They didn’t have comparable sounds the last time I checked… but that was a few years ago.

You can calm down. It usually works just fine.

You can refrain from patronizing me. It usually indicates weakness of character.

And for people who read this post (that aren’t trolls)… my particular problem took about 4 days to resolve. It seemed to spontaneously resolve itself, with no intervention from the people I contacted in the company.

Unfortunately, other problems arose when I tried to DL a particular module set, so I never could try out the patches I found online.
