A couple of months ago I was thinking about buying the pro version of VCV Rack to use it in Ableton but I read several complaints about the stability and performance of the plugin in Ableton. Has this improved to today? Is it worth buying the pro version?
There haven’t been any official updates in the last couple of months to Rack itself, but plugins are constantly being updated.
In general it seems pretty stable and I’d say it’s definitely worth buying the Pro version if you normally work in a DAW.
Bear in mind there are hundreds of individual 3rd party plugins, thousands of modules, and any one of those can potentially contain a line of code that crashes Rack under certain conditions.
Having said that, a quick glance through the posts on this forum over the last couple of months will show you that there are very few people having any issues with it. I can’t remember the last time it crashed for me.
