Is Sanguine explorator suppose to alias with audio inputs?

Is this intentional? Or perhaps the module is meant for low frequency CV signals?

Which section?

Because most are transparent: they duplicate signals as they come in, except when certain parts of the right sections, the 3:1 section (a simple mixer that sums) or turning on the averager (the 3:1 section divides the final signal by 3) are used.

This section:

I see there is a lot of DC on the output, too.

Expected behavior: compare the output with Audible Instruments’ “Utilities” (where the base code came from) and Count Modula’s “Rectifier”.

Maybe expected by you, but your manual says “audio and CV signals with a polyphonic module that fulfills every mad scientist’s dream.” Whereas the count says “Note that the rectifier module is highly likely to introduce aliasing artefacts when driven with audio frequencies, but I figure anyone running audio through a rectifier is probably not looking or a high-fidelity experience…”

For many years my rectifier has been available that does not do this, btw.

Isn’t that a Mad Scientist’s dream? :stuck_out_tongue:

well, it’s misleading. To me (and most ppl?) if you say “this is good for audio”, and don’t mention that it will introduce a lot of inharmonic distortion, it’s misleading.

I disagree… however… you uncapped an opportunity for fun I missed, so a note has been added  Thanks!

Misleading!? Lol the mentor-without-a-mentee is back to pontificating again. Did you ever contact the forum maintainers about creating a Squinky’s Corner? Would be great to pair your philosophical musings with your excellent technical guide without polluting the forum with disingenuous questions.

I may not always see eye to eye with Squinky, but our conversations are always civil, sooo… please don’t turn this thread into a personal flame war?

The difference was resolved in a manner that, at least, amused me :stuck_out_tongue:

I do my share of pontification from time to time as well :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a singer thing :stuck_out_tongue:

You can say yes to aliasing by using the Explorator SIGN section’s rectifiers: the aliasing and everything remains

I pontificate and market :stuck_out_tongue:

Hehe fair! Hope you have the same resilience 5 years down the line… your plugin adaptations and originals are ace! I’m having a sonic feast at the moment. Thank you!

It’s ok, that guy hates me. only comes by to say nasty things. It’s ok.

Thank you for the kind comments

I apologize Squinky, that mentor-without-a-mentee comment was indeed nasty.

Here’s is an idea: why instead of ‘casually asking questions’ about very well known adaptations and mutations from a legend, you rather send a personal message to the developers about your aliasing obsession?

Instead of putting them on the spot (in your mind) publicly.

Just a thought! Peace.
