How can i trigger a sequencer using my MIDI keyboard & change the pitch

Hi,

I have been able to connect my MIDI keyboard and use polyphony. I have also found some simple patches using a sequencer but does anyone have a simple patch where an external MIDI keyboard triggers the sequencer? I have reviewed other posts and imported the patches, installed the libraries etc however I could not get them to work. On starting VCV rack there is a basic patch that allows me to connect the MIDI keyboard. Is there a straightforward way to add a sequencer into this patch?

Thanks in advance for your help.

did you try the stoermelder Midi-Cat module?

it should be possible to do it.

or you can try the VCV Midi to CV module.

Load this file in VCV.

BBTetra - 29082024.vcv (2.9 KB)

Choose your keyboard in MIDI-CV and your output device in AUDIO

Then hit the spacebar and play some notes on your keyboard. (and then come back for questions)

And here it is with only VCV modules

Thanks for that. I selected the MIDI interface for the keyboard in the MIDI-CV module. I can see the keyboard “triggering” as I can see the cable between [MIDI-CV]-gate and the [Trigger Buffer] lighting up. On hitting the spacebar I do hear the sequence, it’s very good.

Any ideas why I receive no sound via the MIDI keyboard?

Thanks for that

Because the keyboard is only used as a midi device it is not playing the FM synth, the sequencer is, and all you can do with this patch is change the notes (transpose) of the programmed sequence with notes from your keyboard. (when it’s playing). When the clock is not running there are no gates going to the FM synth and there will be no sound.

OK, thanks for that. Cheers
