is there a way to send from somewhere in the VCV Rack to the host module a signal to change the midi program of a vsti loaded in the host? how it work?
Hi David, did you solve this? I have the same problem. Thanks
Hola @araguet, I couldn’t, in my case it was Redux, where the MIDI program is used to load phrases in a tracker , there is no way to receive the program change and convert it to cv and there is no way (using the host’s right button menu) to feed the host a CV as a program change
In my very specific case, redux allows mapping the mentioned phrases to the keyboard, I don’t remember having even mentioned this in the vcv rack support but it would be good to do it now to request those functions
I request this to VCV support, but for now there are no program change in HOST, a shame. I think that an altenative solution y that HOST permit to choose the MIDI device/channel and pass the PC directly to the VST, as you have in a DAW.
Just stumbled upon this because I’ve been having the same issue and there is no other thread on the topic. I’m trying to use Helm as a playable voice on my patches and the only way I’ve been able to circumvent the limitations of VCV was through Carla, routing the audio from 2 virtual inputs back into Rack with the Audio Module:
Note that this can cause feedback (it never happened while testing but on a bigger patch it became unplayable), so right now I’m using my BCD 3000 as the audio carrier for the VST.
