GPU Usage in VCV Rack

Hi-

I’m hoping someone can answer some questions about GPU utilization in VCV rack.

  • Will VCV use a GPU for audio processing or is it just used for screen rendering?

  • If it is used in audio processing, what are the most important parameters for performance (clock speed, memory, CUDA cores, etc.)

  • Do either of the major GPU platforms have a real advantage in driver efficiency for VCV Rack on a PC?

Only one person can give you a definitive answer, but in the meantime… No, never, GPU is terrible for real time audio. won’t happen. ever.

Currently no modules use CUDA, OpenCL, or any other GPU API for DSP computation.
