I created this demo for you, but I’ll admit that it’s built a bit differently than the video example you showed:
The general idea is pretty simple: Heavily distorted drums, and quickly modulating some noisy source. Hope this helps a little bit!
Also, I missed this part:
You might look into using a euclidean sequencer for the drum tracks, but I don’t have any strong suggestions since I haven’t used any myself. Or line up a few different drum pattern gate sequencers and switch between them randomly during playback.
Worth noting in that video you referenced the drum sequence sounds repetitive to me. The perceived variation might come from being passed into a compressor or distortion along with the other signals, which will make the drums sound a bit more animated.
Unfortunately, one of those modules (PatchSeq) is commercial, so sharing that exact patch might not get you far. But, here’s a variation that might help. Please note, though, that the sampler will need to be loaded up with drum sounds.
