Expert Sleepers Calibrator (Free) Vs Voice Controller ($10)

Expert Sleepers has a newer (free) version of their Voice Controller now called Calibrator (bottom image with 4 jacks). This has different inputs and outputs and labels from the original (Voice Controller) which is still sold in the VCV Rack Store. Is the newer free module more capable? If so in what way? I am trying to sort it out as every calibration tutorial that I have seen shows the original version which is leading to some confusion on my part. Is there a specific benefit to the newer module?

Please see the images below. Any help in understanding how these differ is appreciated. If anyone knows of a calibration video using the newer module and has a link to it that would be helpful.

From the source code it looks as though the new Calibrator is a very simple module that only contains 4 calibration points (in/out 0V, and in/out 3V). The original likely has a more detailed map across the voltage range and will rely on pitch detection (from your external oscillator) across that range.

Interesting. Not what I expected to read. It looks the original is the way to go. Thanks for the response.

take a look at NYSTHI’s TUNATHOR as well
