Simple question: is it possible to use the same expander module, but one instance at left side, and second instance at right side, exactly like this?
Only in this case, the left-side instance will process the FM input only, and the right-side instance will process all 5 outputs (JOY X / JOY Y / GATE / ENV X / ENV Y) but not the FM input.
Why, because - in general - Ohmer Modules convention is inputs at left, outputs at right. 
Unfortunately, expanders are not (or not enough) documented!
At the moment, this VX expander is operational but at right-side only.
