disable gate and mute in sequence; is there any sequencer?

hello, i want to manipulate gate steps inside a sequence. for example: disable step 3 in a 16 step sequence. i do not mean mute, i want to just hop from step 2 directly to 4. for muting i know how to do. any idea? or a module? currently i use ML Sequencer. with this it is possible, but they are a little bit to big for me.

thanks Karl

NYSTHI’s SQUONK is a 12-step sequencer which skips steps that are set to ‘dark/black’ mode.

thank you, i tried the sequencer, but because i need 16 steps, i’m struggling with the chaining. i read, that it is possible to chain two SQUONKs. do you know how to do this?

Karl

I did it like this :

2Squoks - 25102025.vcvs (23.8 KB)

2Squoks - 25102025 with triggers.vcvs (25.0 KB)

thank you, that works as expected. i must say that i do not use many different nysthi modules, because there is a lack of documentation. i have to use forum search to test and check the forum.

i will play with SQUONK and come back eventually.

just test how i could set start step. any idea? set stop is the red mode, or am i wrong?

AFAIK the start step is always step 1 (unless you turn it off (black)) when you stop the clock (and reset) it will go to step12 to be ready to go to the first step when you start the clock again. And yes red is the last step (but will not be played).

ah ok, for testing i patch LAST to Trig In of a step. after that it starts there. very good. that means, i have to put a trigger from LAST to a selectable step i want to start. perhaps a switch 1:12 or 1:16. is there any that fits?

Not that I know of.

This does something…set it to hard clipping !

thank you. but i found a 1:16 switch from countmodula. as far as i read i could select the stage via cv with a knob. i will test it.

I think this is (still) the kind of problem that can be solved (rather easily) with a few lines of program in the BASICally (Stochastic Telegraph) module.

you can use the programmer too

for docs refer to the serge programmer

This one looks nice too for muting and skipping steps.

Yes, but unfortunately only one row. SQUONK has five.
