Dammit ChatGPT

Objective truth is basically non-existent. And “correct” is always relative to some referencepoint or norm. Even what’s considered hard core science and evidence might just be the current consensus of some group. So, if it’s all sorta subjective it’s basically back to power and influence.

You’d think so…but alas…many just need the whim of a single person

Might be that if we introduce some basic rules about ethics into AI, it would actually abide by those rules. Not hindered or distracted by emotions and other basic human flaws.

But looking back into human history, i’m not too optimistic. There are many, many examples of even the best of intentions having the worst outcomes or side effects.

Google’s anthropic ‘Constitution’ based approach is an effort to make AI’s inherently safe…

And they have the best of intentions.

I see that Google announced “Bard” today.

There’s also Google’s MusicLM, ‘text-to-music’

Abstract We introduce MusicLM, a model generating high-fidelity music from text descriptions such as “a calming violin melody backed by a distorted guitar riff” . MusicLM casts the process of conditional music generation as a hierarchical sequence-to-sequence modeling task, and it generates music at 24 kHz that remains consistent over several minutes. Our experiments show that MusicLM outperforms previous systems both in audio quality and adherence to the text description. Moreover, we demonstrate that MusicLM can be conditioned on both text and a melody in that it can transform whistled and hummed melodies according to the style described in a text caption. To support future research, we publicly release MusicCaps, a dataset composed of 5.5k music-text pairs, with rich text descriptions provided by human experts.
