A bit of Vasarely influence here and there…
Just hit a rich new vein, got that irresistible urge to share images again…
Putting on my pretentious artists cap, I’d have to describe this as my yellow scaffolding period
I browse the MidJourney explore page sometimes looking for inspiration, but it strikes me that there are almost never images there that are similar (in subject or style) to what I create using MJ.
My ego says: that is because no one else creates images like you do, you are a unique artist with your own style, why would there be images like yours?
My cynical brain says: images like yours are not popular, the explore page only has images that people like and think are good, that is why none look like yours
…and then I think, mundanely, the truth is probably somewhere in between, a little bit of both
Have you seen PJ Tardiveau’s amazing work Dan? Some of his synths make me think of your art:
He has a couple of gorgeous Eurorack modules he’s working on at the moment:
What I see most is : people, animals, household items, and landscapes. Your art has nothing to do with the aforementioned, which is a good thing
Wow, that’s cool, thanks for the link.
I also love this channel:
i assume that most people just put a couple of words in as a prompt (i.e. “painting of a pretty girl in the style klimpt”) and are okay with that result. AI seems to be like any other artistic tool, the more you work with it the more ideas occur to you. generative art has that feedback loop where you push the medium and then the medium pushes you back which gives you more ideas of how to push it.
I’ve just gone super weird on these ones… kinda synthy, kinda just random stuff
Best round yet i think. Tonto clone looking beautiful
There is a technique you can use with MidJourney to create massive seamless textures
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work so well with v6
at the moment, but if you drop back to v5.2
it is awesome
Use this image with Purfenator if you want
…and here is a how to super-tile tutorial
https://midlibrary.io/midguide/super-tiling-technique-in-midjourney-ai
What’s the technique? I tried so many prompts to create a seamless internal pattern without satisfactory results.
In MJ you just use the --tile
param, although, as I said it doesn’t seem to work that great in v6
Once you have a seamless texture, then basically you use the vary region
button to create new textures that tile using the same edges, then you can compose multiple textures together in photoshop, the article I linked explains it quite well I think.
Excellent, a new feature to play with
“Style References”. They work similarly to image prompts where you give a URL to one or more images that ‘describe’ the consistent style you want to work over.
- After your prompt type
--sref
along with a URL to an image- Set the total strength of the stylization via
--sw 100
(100 is default, 0 is off, 1000 is maximum)
what happens if you feed ai images into ai images over and over again? is it like feedback?
Yes, exactly (although it probably doesn’t end up looking as you would imagine), I do this for many of my images and similar techniques, for example generating an image, then using the describe
function on it, then using the same image as a prompt in addition to a generated prompt from describe
. Prompt feedback and inception… if you will.
