Rick started playing music when he traded his first bicycle for his first guitar. He still isn’t a good bike rider, but he is a decent guitarist. He first discovered electronic music at Dalhousie University’s Experimental Music Studio in the ’70s, where they had a Theremin, a Minimoog and an ARP 2600, which they actually let students use. He couldn’t afford to own those instruments then, or now for that matter but, fortunately, virtual instruments running on personal computers have become affordable in recent years and he has come back to electronic music. Of late, his music has focused on Deep Listening and spontaneously improvised soundscapes intended to augment other art forms, such as poetry/fiction readings, painting, drawing, and photography.
