Wow, Ms Dolly really did grow up dirt poor. Didn’t have any money for premium plugins or VSTs at all.

Love Curtis Roads writings, great explainer of digital synthesis, Microsound is superb.

Saw this on Reddit - Pet Shop Boys rig from the 90s.

Most recently finished: The Spear Cuts Through Water, which is pretty gorgeous, surprising, and uses storytelling techniques I’ve never seen before to great effect.

Oh, and There Is No Antimemetics Division, which was much better than I dared hope.

Currently: Pride and Prejudice. Funnier than I expected, and I’m learning vocabulary words like “entailment”. Not much music, except that when your musical entertainment is all at home, you suffer through a lot of singing of excruciatingly middling quality.

Coming up: In the Heart of The Sea, apparently the true story that inspired Moby Dick. And then Walk Through Walls, Marina Ambromovic’s memoir.

Recently finished Gregory Benford’s “The Berlin Project”, being an alternate history version of the Manhattan Project. The point of departure is choosing a much faster method of separating Uranium isotopes.

Now on to Haruki Murakami’s The City and Its Uncertain Walls, sort of a sequel to Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World.
