Got to see SRV live twice. One show, the Stray Cats were supposed to open, but got into a last-minute kerfluffle and couldn’t make it- so Stevie called up Johnny Copeland to over last minute.. it was an amazing show, it literally started raining when they were playing “The Sky Is Crying” ![]()
Wonderful.
But it sounds like the artwork is the score ![]()
Bit of late 90’s French House goodness. Didn’t hear this album (Crime in the City) until a year after release but it got played over and over at the time. Whole thing is well worth a listen if you’re not familiar with it. Quite a range of styles on there.
Boards of Canada, who are definitely one of my favorite electronic artists, just dropped a single new track a few days ago. Triggering lots of speculation. It’s their first new release after 13 years of silence. A prelude to things to come? Is a new album coming our way?

Amazing how Erik Satie’s then and still unusual, revolutionary and haunting musical works still inspires and moves many today.
Thalicyne, with Satie II sure has a fresh take on Erik Satie’s Gnossienes II
For those who are unfamiliar with the name and/or titles of his most well known works: I bet at least one of them will sound familiar to most. They are quite often used as background music for documentaries.
He wrote them when he was in his early twenties. After being kicked out of the Paris Conservatoire for his unsatisfactory performance. Qualifications on him and his music like “gifted but indolent”, “insignificant and laborious”, “worthless. Three months just to learn the piece. Cannot sight-read properly.” have definitely been proven wrong by his legacy.
Erik Satie - Gymnopédies I, II, III (1888) & Gnossiennes I, II, III (1889)
or is it “Oh crap, why didn’t we release this 13 years ago?”
– “The tape fell down the back of the desk, and I just found it while cleaning up”
David Sylvian, definitely one of my other favorite artists. Such a unique voice. Such great music.

Love the album “Brilliant Trees”.
To me the rest after that was more of the same ![]()
Big fan of the first two Japan albums ![]()
I did post this before…I think…
The making of…Brilliant Trees. In the studio with Ryuchi Sakamoto (piano), Holger Czukay (IBM Dictation Machine, guitar), Jon Hassel (Trumpet) and others. BTW, both Steve Jansen and Richard Barbieri (Japan members) also appear on this brilliant (…) debut album. Great to hear and see the creative process.
