you are challenged to make a patch in vcv rack to showcase creative use of modules, so other users may get inspired. you can also win eternal fame!
since this is edition 42, i wanted to do a relevant theme: question and answer
i’m sure many people will get the reference… how you interpret the theme is up to you (using delay, sampling, or something less literal). the phenomenon has a long history in music, in a variety of genres. i’m looking forward to seeing and hearing what you come up with!

VCP-42 Answer for Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything
Hello Rackhead
Today I presents my entry for VCP-42 and … Thanks to Omri Cohen for tutorial about Damian Lillard module from Frozen Wasteland it was very helpfull for my patch today. Thanks Omri. I didn’t think too much and too long about building my patch. The answer and question are contained within. Cheers, ladies and gentlemen.
I’ve been working on a patch lately that fits this challenge, I am quite new to the program and my graphics card isn’t up for the task of recording video just yet, but that will change soon For now, here is a still picture of the active patch with the first export I tried with it. Enjoy! https://patchstorage.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Classical-Ensemble.vcv
I finally noticed that the REC module records video, so I whipped this up. I wish I could have incorporated a HHG reference now! I’ll just pretend the drone was meant to be a moaning android.
Here’s my entry for VCP-42. The patch started out as an experiment with low pass gates after reading about them in Patch & Tweak. Then I saw Omri messing around with Luppolo this morning and …

My gawd x 3:
I managed to record my screen (had a lot of issues with vcv-recorder, no matter what settings it always just glitched… thanks to someone who somewhere here pointed me to OBS – the search work, use it ).
I made my patch in time (still working on that last challenge - no reverb / delay…).
Beauty of a soundscape, really, but don’t really fit the challenge IMHO! But it’s a nice patch. May I suggest you to use the Nysthi’s recorder to take the audio to prevent audio glitches…?
No, I’m affraid it doesn’t. Personally, I use OBS for image and master recorder 2 from Nysthi for the audio and then edit and synchronize with a Simple video editor (premiere element in my case, but there are surely plenty of freeware available). The VCV recorder has improved its performance but a high end computer seems to be still required to record a medium large patch, so to say!
@chribbe
Just jumping in to tell there is Shotcut if you are looking for one
It’s available on Windows Mac and Linux
It’s rather simple but gets the work done, i use it a lot for my channel
