VCV and Bitwig - how to record midi from vcv instrument while still routing audio to main ?

I managed to send a few different midi instruments on different channels into an vcv rack plugin, now I want to record the midi out from vcv rack , but if I route the instrument with vcv rack plugin into an empty instrument track I lose audio .

I’m running an older version of bitwig (2.5.1)

You can try converting the new instrument track to a hybrid track. I think you just right click and there is an option for it.
