The cpu is probably higher because all surge oscillators run at 2x oversample and downsample.
I don’t remember if I added a menu item to turn that off

Why does it oversample? I guess it’s meant for FM? fwiw I can think of lots of reasons that module would use more CPU than mine - for one thing it does a ton more!
All surge vcos oversample. With sine as sine probably not needed

I think your VCO core uses “vertical SIMD”, so they don’t use the same amount of CPU of 4 voices and for 1?
Not quite - we use simd either across the per poly voice unison or along the block but not across the rack poly
