Usefull redesign without hardware limitations in skeumorphism?

If one wanted a “daw style piano roll” with no hex, why not use my Seq++ module, which is free and has been in VCV forever?seq

Have you found Carla to be stable? I’ve only played with it a bit (2.2.0), and it seemed kind of flaky to me, but that could have been my own misunderstandings (I don’t think there is much in the way of documentation).

Everything has been said already I guess. Most of the things I do in music GUI is hardware lookalike, whether is flat, stylised, 3d modeling. As a designer you are ask to go flat minimalist on your day job. Ok, I love it, very rational.

I’ll say something cliché but it’s always forgotten in tech oriented forums: music is art, art is subjective, deals with inspiration, subconscious, memories, personal history, it has almost nothing to do with rational thinking.it is a very fullfing feeling to accept that you will not do rational choice when making music

Sue me: my love for music recording history will make me more inspired in front of a screen showing a rusty pulteq than a grey window with sliders and values. Inspiration can’t be justified rationally. Some people are good with digitallooking things, some other will need an emotional connection with hardware or artist they admire. If it making it look like it can help inspiration, then it will help music quality.

This is one of the reason why I love music GUI: it’s a great escape out of rational thinking

Hmm, I’ll need to revisit it. When I tried, some LV2 plugins I had seemed to crash it.
