Stochastic Telegraph's Fixation V/OCT in Reverse?

Hey Everyone!! Is there any workaround to use Fixation module’s “Use Speed in V/OCT” option in Reverse as in when you set it to -1? I just can’t seem to get a workaround for it. I’ve tried setting it to -1 and then using a Quantizer without turning the “Use Speed in V/OCT” but it just doesn’t work the same as it does when you turn the “Use Speed in V/OCT” option on.

mmhhh… that’s a very good question. Maybe @StochasticTelegraph knows? (sorry for tagging you here but I assume you should be able to answer that )

So in other words, you’d like to have the speed controlled by a V/Oct signal, but have Fixation play in reverse? I admit that I’m stumped; as both Fixation and Ruminate stand, there’s really no way to tell the module “only play in reverse” and allow V/Oct. BOUNCE on Ruminate allows it to be played in reverse, but there’s no good way to tell it to not bounce back to playing forwards again.

OK, I have the following patch that seems to do it with Ruminate, by using a forward-running Ruminate to drive the position of a different Ruminate, but reversing the position in the Memory.

Ruminate VOct and Reverse.vcv (3.4 KB)

I also just came up with this as a way to reverse a Memory into another Memory.

Reverse a Memory.vcv (2.1 KB)

Neither are the cleanest solution, but what I can come up with at the moment.

Hope that helps.

Yeah reversing a Memory into another Memory seems like a much better way to do it especially for my needs as I want to use Fixation more than I want to use Ruminate. Before I used to Reverse the Sample outside of Rack and then load it again in another Memory if I wanted to use the V/Oct thingy so this eliminates that hassle as well.

It’s a bummer that there’s no way to tell the module to “only play in reverse” and allow V/Oct but yeah I would love to see this feature implemented in later updates.

Thank you Mahlen for your help!!

Yeah, I can see adding a “reverse” menu option for those two. I think I’d even considered it before, but thought, well, how likely is someone going to need that; I’ll wait until someone mentions it. Now you have!

Great to hear that, absolutely looking forward for that update!
