sickozell looper "erase" question

Was playing with the sickozell loopers. A question.

Does the erase button actually do anything? After a few fumbling steps, I finally got it to record and play back a loop. Then I thought I could replace the loop, but it’s only overdubbing. I clicked “erase” – the tool tip says its status flips to on and then back to off immediately. I checked the manual; it says to double-click on the button to erase, so I did that. Since “erase” has a cv input, I also tried putting in a constant +10V. Nothing changes the behavior. All the old content is still there getting mixed with anything new that I record.

Is… that a bug? Or I’m missing something? Live looping can’t be only a process of accumulation; you have to take things out sometimes.

(That was in looper5. I’m out of time for this morning, no time to recheck loopers 1 and 3.)

The manual says you have to stop the track with the stop button first. The erase button works for me when I do that.

The initially recorded blank track is no longer needed and can be deleted, first by stopping it with the STOP button, and then by double-clicking the ERASE button.

Ah, OK.

I can understand that for safety during performance. Might be nice if there’s also a non-overdubbing record mode. Maybe I’ll write up a feature request later.
