I just realized there are a few modules that make the gate and V/Oct distribution very simple. They were primarily designed to distribute gates and V/Oct across multiple polyphonic channels and feed to a polyphonic VCO, Envelope Generator, and VCA so the envelopes for each note can ring out, allowing consecutive notes to overlap.
But you can easily use Split modules to separate the poly Gate and V/Oct signals into sets of monophonic signals for hocketing or round-robin use.
My next Venom release will include Spread Merge which can do the same thing, except it accepts multiple Gate|V/Oct inputs.
Spread Merge and Tails have options to do sample and hold or track and hold for each note.
Tonight I created a generative “bed” on which I could play a lead keyboard voice. I’m realizing even super simple manual playing of a few notes here and there can add so much to a patch.
I always have fun when I let myself improvise with a patch, but I have never (well, almost never) had the courage to record and publish what I do. It’s really kind of weird considering I have no problem performing and/or recording flute or voice improvisations.
Music is not second nature, I have to work at it, but I enjoy the struggle. I’m not gonna quit and I’m not gonna listen to that voice that says I’m not good enough. It is wrong, art doesn’t work like that.
