Rack 2 Pro is a CPU hog on my Mac Mini M2

In addition, you are not making an accurate comparison between platforms by having different devices selected in the Audio module.

By your previous screenshots:

Windows: No Device

Mac: Ecouters Externes

I get a much lower CPU reading with No Device, just as you do.

edit: ah, I see in the 2nd pair of screenshots, you have an interface or sound card selected. In any case, I believe that using built-in speakers or headphone jack will result in higher CPU usage, as the DAC is not outsourced. (Souldn’t be an enormous difference vs an external interface, but we do want apples-to-apples comparisons, don’t we.)

And no information about how many threads you have selected in VCV Rack. 1 thread on arm64, period. No use to use more, just adds more overhead.

That’s pretty funny. With no device selected for audio output (or no Audio module) Rack will often just not be running any module process functions. viola! low CPU! but then, it’s not actually running much of anything.

Some of my patches sound best with No Device selected. :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face:
