Question about NoteSeq

I feel like an idiot, which I probably are, but could somevody please explain me how does those individual poly outputs work in NoteSeq so that I can get predictable results?

If you look at the attached image, gate and pitch are coming out from the 3rd output when notes inside the red square are played, but nothing comes out when the green is played.

I’m not sure if its even possible, using solely NoteSeq, but I would like to direct certain note ranges into certain instuments. I received nice results yesterday, until I made the mistake and read the user manual, and I relaized that those ports are behaving totally different than I expected

Use Output 1 (bottom ports) for the green box. For Output 3, you’ll need to stack at least 3 notes in a column.

Also, make sure to select the proper number of polyphony channels in the context menu.

Watch the lights between the V/Oct and Gate output ports to see which polyphony channels are being activated.

These “individual poly outputs” are in fact mono outputs. Maybe this video gives some explanation:

When you play all 3 notes together, then the outputs 1 to 3 are used.

When you play these 3 notes one after another, then only output 1 is used.

If you use the drum mode you can use f.i. the bottom 8 for triggers (1-8) and the top half for a melody.

Thank you for the replies! I think I might have a some kind of understanding

Am I correct if I say:

  • Output 1 will produce note from each column where there is at leat 1 note
  • Output 2 will produce note from each column where there is at leat 2 notes

At least it looks like its working that way.

I’d say that this is correct. And it goes beyond: The lowest note goes to Output 1, the second lowest to Output 2, the third lowest to Output 3 and so on.

I am not sure whether in your OP you were asking for something to the effect of a keyboard splitter. If so, IDK, perhaps Impromptu’s Part module might be useful.
