Qualcomm Wifi Adapter was killing Rack Performance

This is a lounge post since there’s no “Getting & Keeping Your Computer Working” Category.

On Windows 10, new i7 8-core computer from Dell.

I was having some large glitches – like audio stutter for 5 seconds – and tried a bunch of stuff to get it to stop, but the one that seems to have done the trick was disabling the Qualcomm WiFi Network Adapter.

I have wired internet in my studio, so the WiFi network wasn’t even being used, but it still screwed up performance.

The device in question is a Qualcomm QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Adapter. This also provides Bluetooth, but Windows 10 lets me disable the WiFi and still use the Bluetooth.

Is it just with any patch or only with larger n heavier ones?

It doesn’t seem to be linked to patch size at all. Once you have a current 8-core i7, it’s hard to build a patch that actually runs up against CPU limitations.
