Android has always been one of my favorite platforms for producing electronic music, applications such as caustic, sunvox, flstudio , countless Syntes and other control and performance applications such as touchosc have shown that it is a fully capable platform for this purpose.
For a while now I’ve been working on Protoseq, which is a collection of experimental MIDI sequencers for Android.
Including classic steps sequencers, random generators, midi players and control surfaces, of which I would like to highlight a couple of them
Gina’s Arp, which was born inspired by a conversation with the talented electronic artist Gina Moncada, aka Ciudadana Cero (hence the name)
Gina is a generative arpeggiator capable of creating very solid and stable melodies in the low registers and with a lot of movement and color in the high registers allowing the user to travel through the range to experiment.
in protoseq gina’s arp consists of from 1 to 8 steps where each step is a melodic domain of a certain degree of the scale
An alternate version of the gina idea is found in the GS-8 sequencer also included in protoseq as well as a mini version of gina (single step) is included in the DUTY OP rhythm sequencer
Protoseq is compatible with MIDI INTERFACES and USB MIDI making it perfect and very easy to connect with software like the VCV Rack or your favorite hardware synthesizer, plus it can connect with any software with MIDI capabilities within the same device (Sunvox, Pegboard, AMB-R Synth, etc.)
Perform on the fly with sequencers, save the state of a sequencer as a PRG and invoke them as a SCENE or in a PLAYLIST
The price of Protoseq on Gumroad is 5 usd, but this week (until September 4) it will be completely free with the code VCV-COMMUNITY at checkout.
