Don’t worry, I fixed this.
Awesome
Rack does not run any of the audio processing when there is no audio interface, and a lot of modules use that audio processing time for a whole bunch of non audio stuff.
Just an update, I have basic Patch Storage integration working.
It’s a little janky right now as the counter doesn’t update the first time you download patches (though toggling the widget makes it catch up).
That said, you can add Patch Storage username/password and a list of users you’d like to subscribe to, and those patches will be downloaded and show up in the Prefabs menu.
It still needs some work though. There are some things about the Patch Storage API/data model that doesn’t quite jive with how things work so I am trying to figure out the best way to index and display them in the menu. (For example, all Patch Storage patches are indexed as a single “plugin” source, and so the “by module:” menu blows up if you just subscribe to Omri because he uses such a variety of plugins. Obviously he’s an extreme case, but how it is right now wont scale.)
Stay tuned!
Just another quick update, Patch Storage integration is coming along.
I’ve completely rewritten how patches are fetched, cached, indexed and I added support for V2 (compressed archive) patches.
I am currently reworking how search indexing works and it’s already seeing improvements in speed and result relevance. I dunno that any search algorithm I make will ever be proper but it’s working and something others could contribute to. One thing I am going to try is putting the result in scrollable widgets so that there is a maximum vertical height to the results without limiting the number of results.
I’ve talked to the Patch Storage developer and soon there will be support in the API for tracking which patches you’ve hearted/liked. Once that’s available, I will make your liked patches the default Patch Storage source.
Once I’m happy with how Patch Storage patches are showing up in the menu, I will try to make a pass for stability and then release 2.0.6
Thanks for waiting.
Just some gifs to show that I’m slowly working at things.
I have been working on a custom menu system to support scrollable and embeddable submenus.
I think I am going to make an option to make the main menu a tabbed interface.
Prefabs / Patches / Modules
along the top.
Basically just continuing to explore how to maximize usability and continue to refine the implementation so it’s easier to make changes and maintain.
this looks awesome
Agreed, looking forward to next build.

Hi,
Is this beautiful project still active? I tried to install it in VCVRack 252 Pro, but it doesn’t appear in the list of available modules…
thanks
I really wish someone would pick up this project. Because it made using selections and using VCV so much faster!
