Yeah and I confirmed that all these work fine macOS
I had to remove all of the plugins that updated today and now Rack does not crash on startup or upon opening the module browser. I will await word on which is the actual problem before updating these.
I submitted a report to Support.
I was able to reproduce this on both laptop and desktop, both running Windows 11 & Rack2Pro 2.6.4.
- I updated 2 plugins this morning:
-
But after clicking “yes” VCV did not re-launch, and I could not manually re-launch after multiple attempts, and a PC reboot
-
I removed the TinyTricks and OuroborosModules folders from my plugins directory, and was able to launch Rack
-
I closed Rack, and replaced the TinyTricks plugin folder, and was able to manually launch Rack
-
I closed Rack and replaced the OuroborosModules folder, and was not able to relaunch Rack
-
I again removed the OuroborosModules folder, and was able to re-launch, and received the crash/clear prompt.
Everything seems to be running OK without the OuroborosModules plugin.
Reported to support.
If you want, I have confirmation that the nightly of airwindows and tiny tricks both work fine, built using the older toolchain. But also just report remove and wait it out is a fine strategy of course
Well, this is all pretty terrifying. As bad as it may sound, I’m kinda hoping this is really just another toolchain issue, and I didn’t just cause some kind of catastrophe here ![]()
I’m currently using a build I made with the toolchain (at this commit) and it works fine for me, so I’m currently building the latest commit of the toolchain to see if that makes it crash for me too.
For my things, it was definitely a toolchain issue - gcc13 builds work gcc15 dont - and i’ve chatted briefly with andrew about it and I know his team is looking.
Yeah, it does seem like it must be a toolchain issue.
Interestingly, my local builds with the toolchain didn’t cause crashes for me, even with all of the rolled back plugins installed. How odd.
Which toolchain are you on? The gcc13 one seems fine but the new gcc15 one just went live (since the gcc14 one didn’t work with airwin)
The GCC15 one, I built it to check if it would crash on my machine.
I’ve published a release candidate for version 2.2.0. If there are no issues found after a while, I’ll be publishing version 2.2.0 to the library.

Changelog
- New modules:
- Automata: A trigger and CV sequencer based on Conway’s Game of Life, with support for other Life-like rules
- Warp: Phase distortion effect using any signal
- Reset Helper: An utility for making resetting sequencers from multiple sources easier, e.g., on clock reset + every bar. Converts gates to triggers and merges resets received close together in time
- Conductor: A performance controller for changing sequencer patterns, automatically and on beat. Must be used with Conductor - External or Conductor - Grid.
- Conductor - External: Expander for controlling Conductor with an external physical or virtual controller
- Conductor - Grid: Expander for controlling Conductor with a virtual pad grid within VCV Rack
- Added missing undo/redo history in some modules
- Added sst-rackhelpers for automatic cable connection options
