New modules by CV funk

Interesting idea! I’ll think about that, maybe I’ll get inspired to make a larger version with better features.

I had also considered letting a CV input override the sliders, but then still let you apply the macro-param adjustments like re-scaling or slanting/curving the inputs one way or another.

@codyge Codyge Howdy, Chord Caster module, catched crash, check it please: Load module (init state), enable Strum mode, and connect “Envs” output to “V/Oct” input. Should get crash.

Plug v219 \ Win10 \ VCV 264

Hi @octex912 Thank you very much for the bug report! I was able to replicate this issue on an older Intel Mac. I think I have narrowed it down to an issue with sending over 7.3V to the V/oct in polyphonic mode. I’ll put some limiters on the input to lock the v/oct within nyquist range, and that should fix it.

EDIT: Fixed. It will be in the next update.

Exceeding nyquist normally just gets you aliasing. What’s the crash?

Ha I know right… so I left it in, in case you want to mess with laliasing. But in this case the feedback oscillator becomes unstable as it tries to do more than one cycle per sample and … well I’m not exactly sure where the overflow occurs, but it is hopefully fixed.

@codyge Codyge thank you now fixed :+1:

Upd: sorry seems above was technical (coding) discuss but for example i very like aliasing. No, i’m seriously, sometimes it can give very interesting textures. Ofcourse i’d vote for keep aliasing as optional feature (for not to touch interest of other users), where it possible technically.

Introducing Strata

A layered step sequencer.

The top section of the module is similar to Picus, with a series of clock ratio generators powering a Pattern strip that controls the rest of the module function. You pick the sequencer (L) or (R) or (off) for each step in the pattern.

Then, below you have two 4-step sequencers that you can bounce back and forth between. You can turn on/off individual steps (except for the last step). The switch sets whether the sequencer advances per beat or per stage (and the middle setting advances the sequencer note per stage, but the selection of L/R sequencer or mute per note).

Below that is a secondary sequencer, it has it’s own dedicated clock ratio, and it sequences semitone offsets that add to the main sequencer. It has a mode switch that controls the sequencer direction: forward, backwards, or ping-pong.

Last is a shorter octave sequencer, also with a dedicated clock ratio generator. It has mode options that allow it to only modify the left, right or both sequencers.

On the left you can select between 4 layers, and context-menu options let you copy/paste layers like in Cartesia.

EDIT: many bugfixes. rc3 is now at the same link above.

Doesn’t seem to show up in the library after installing the github release… the rest of the modules all report being on 2.0.38 though.

Are you subscribed to individual modules in my plugin? If so, that can mess up what the library shows you in VCV (where VCV just hides all the installed modules from a plugin you’ve not subbed to). To fix it you need to be subscribed to the whole plugin collection rather than individual modules. OR, there’s Stoermelder “MB” module browser, I think that will show hidden modules as well.

That seemed to have fixed it, thanks!

I just bought your premium module pack and it’s just full of flavor, haven’t gotten to it all yet but I have to try the envelope city, and now it looks like this day just keeps on giving! My only want is for you to make a lite version of Envelope City for the free modules since you have Wonk and Super Wonk, the premium envelope generator is missing the smaller entry level version with fewer channels. Hope to see Strata in the official library page soon!

Thanks so much for the support, and the kind feedback.

There is Envelope Array that has 6 channels… but it’s not the same sample-precise function generator as Envelope City. Being one of the first modules I developed, it has some rough edges. I’ll consider making one with the V/oct precise function in the same form-factor as Wonk.

Strata will be released to the library soon-ish. I keep finding little bugs, and it makes me feel like it needs more testing (there’s a lot of buttons and knobs…).

Well, I can always set the probability on the envelopes to 0 so if I only need a few out of 16 at a time it should work, tried it with a cascade of triggers… just needs the right delay, modulation effects and for pro workout to not crash every time I try to figure out what the Euclidean pad setting does, I may not get to Strata today but it still feels right to have it in the library, my settings json is now incomplete without it in the list

Oh also, in Envelope City, you can also set the number of poly channels you want in the context menu. This sets the number of outputs for every one of the 16 main outputs. It’s very handy if you want 16x 6-channel outs. (Same for the other modules in the set). You can set the Gate and Envelope outs to different polyphony as well. The last outputs marked (P) always outputs the full Poly-stack.

I went ahead and submitted Strata to the library, after another round of bug-check/fixing. I think it must have the worst bugs fixed by now.

Strata - update

In retrospect, I decided it would be more useful to have the possibility of different beat/pattern settings for each of the 4 layers. So I added that. But to make like easier, I also added more extensive copy/paste options in the context menu. These will allow you to just copy/paste the sequence or rhythm sections separately.. it was a real pain to implement - but I think it makes it much better to use.

I also added an option to switch the Layer input between trigger-detection and 1V/layer CV control.

I’ve incremented the version and submitted to library. Happy weekend.

Strata is now available in the VCV library.

I hope you enjoy this sequencer and find exciting musical uses for it!

Here is a little demo patch I made with Strata and Alloy:

CV funk v2.0.40 out soon

Sadly, no new modules this update.

Pressed Duck Mixers:

  • CPU optimization
  • Mute CV toggle - Context option lets you select between toggle and gate modes for the Mutes.
  • Mute Fades - Context menu slider lets to you set the fade time for Mutes (up to 4 sec). Applies to both fade in and fade out.
  • Shift-click Mutes to Solo - Better UI behavior, works like a solo/unmute all toggle.

Alloy:

  • Added Volume knob.

Impulse Controller:

  • Added tool tip label to Impulse Trigger.

Strata:

  • Added JSON save/recall to the Pattern knob, which was accidentally left out. Now pattern knob should save and load with the patch correctly.
  • CPU efficiency updates.

Tuner:

  • Large Hz display now in blue, for better contrast.

You can get the release here while it is pending for library release:

Even without new modules it’s always good to stay up to date in case existing ones get new features and improvements

Hi everyone!

It’s time for another update for CV funk Free modules. This update mostly just patches bugs and tries to keep the collection in sync with the latest features.

Impulse Controller - Fixed bug with output addressing. Voltages drop fully to zero when they meet a low threshold, fix behavior at different sample rates.

Arrange - Better copy/paste functions: added Copy All, Paste All, Paste to all stages, Clear, Delete, Add

Clpy - fixed supersampling/bandlimiting

Flowerpatch - display nice in library

Hub - poly display works even when not patched

Nona - add poly support

Ouros - displays nicer in library

Mixers - fixed input normaling bug, compression ratio fix

Ranges - fully polyphonic update, added new display

Signals - display nice in library

Steps - fully polyphonic update, added EDO quantization options

Syncro - Hammer-style ultra-precise clock

Tridelay - default delay value fix

Weave - mono output addressing fix

I have also worked on updating the manual to have a more modern-looking website: CV funk Manual

I have been working on developing a new premium collection, which I will call “Sands”. The collection is now done with development, and is undergoing testing on different platforms. Sands will have 7 new modules that are focussed on going off of the grid. I will make a more detailed post about that soon! You can also see a bit more about them here: CV funk Manual — Sands

In the meantime, I have a new FREE module in development that you can now test. Triton is my first attempt at a filter module. Triton divides your signal into three bands, with a stereo WIDTH control that can be mapped to any/all of the 6 filter control sliders. With the GAP control you can overlap your bands or add notches between them. Each band has an envelope follower (on left channel) that can be patched in many ways to create dynamic filter responses. I might add polyphony if there’s enough interest, but it’s a little heavy on the CPU already.

The build is available in the nightly:
