This is simple enough to be in the “cheap trick” category.
- Clock the bernoulli gate with a 16th pulse. Bonus points if it’s a clock with swing.
- Turn down the probability so it only passes sparse triggers.
- randomly modulate the rim shot pitch. Tune the scale to where it’s subtle & sounds like human variatio.
