Demo of upcoming module called Arrange

Here is a demo where I use Arrange on gates in order to keep the audio tails when switching off.

here is another patch with the new module

Can we think of this as a timeline module, where 1-16 tracks can be switched on/off as time progresses? So 16 on/off VCA’s? Looks interesting…

yes its kinda dumb, input goes to output if cell is on

really looking forward to having a gate-sequencer with LABELS!

It’s so fun! I used to use switches to turn things on and off. This makes more sense the more I use it.

just a thought, or two really, but since a huge use-case for this is controlling the mindmeld mixer which has those polyphonic inputs for mute and solo, maybe you could make it have an option to merge into a polyphonic output, and the other thing is that depending on whether it was plugged into the mute or solo the meanings of “on” and “off” are reversed so an option to toggle that would be helpful.

ya I thought about mute and solo today while I was using it. So ya that kind of feature could go into an expander or I make the module bigger on the next version.

Edit: and yes I know what you mean about using the poly inputs on the mindmeld mixers

Edit 2: I don’t want to tie it to the mindmeld mixer. It can be used with other triggers and gates before audio.

having an option to merge into polyphonic doesn’t sound particularly “mind meld only” to me. Aren’t there plenty of modules that could consume the output with that feature?

ya, definitely could add in the future

my one issue right now is, I have already submitted this to the library and I don’t want to redesign the interface. Seems like an expander could be helpful.

oh, sounded like it wouldn’t change the visual design at all, just add a context menu item. But I don’t know the module…

That’s a great module Jeremy. I usually use one of my gate sequencers and some logic to do this but may switch to using this one as it’s so much simpler. Is it possible to daisy-chain them for longer arrangements? Would be great if you could stick two next to each other and have the right hand one automagically follow on from the one on the left.

There is an end of cycle so you could use that for now but maybe I can make it work like an expander in the future.

I also have thought of some things I want as I use it for new patches. It would be nice to have key commands to insert, delete, copy, paste columns. Right now you have manually add and remove cells to shift things around.

here is some more work with Arrange and thinking about new features.

This may be obvious but you can use a long clock division to trigger the sequencer if you want 8,16,32, whatever bars to play before advancing the sequencer.

Another thing you could do is use multiple layers where one is the slow overall track and faster Arrange modules are used in sync with the main one or something like that.

@jeremy Looking forward to trying Arrange. One immediate thought is what if Len and Start have polyphonic inputs so each track could have different lengths/starts but work with the same clock speed.
