Temperance Lite represents the next step for reverb technology, offering a new approach to shape ambiance. It responds to the language of music, encouraging you to explore reverb in a new way. Unlike a traditional algorithmic or convolution reverb, Temperance Lite lets you control reverb resonances using the familiar 12-note chromatic scale. This allows you to choose which notes bloom or wither within your chosen space, creating musical ambiances that were previously unattainable”

SoundToys is giving away plug-ins in a 12 Days of SoundToys promotion. From the link

Between December 8 and 19, we’re giving away SIX (yes, that’s right) different plug-ins. These creative tools aren’t available for individual sale, and each one is free for a limited time only. This is our year-end thank you to all the creators who make noise and keep us inspired.

Little Primal Tap, a delay plug-in, is available today and tomorrow.

For those who do not already own the full plug-in, it may be worth a look. Sometimes, SoundToys freebies lead to extra discounts on their full plug-ins at a later date.

^-- update: a discount coupon for the full plug-in was added to my account. I did not originally notice as I have all their plug-ins already and was just going through the process to see if the freebie was worth mentioning here.

Soon to come and now in open beta:

SoundToys: so far (and we’re only 2 out of 6 in), the freebies are reducing the price of the bundle (I don’t own any of them so I’m seeing the full signal)

EDIT: linear extrapolation fails again–it looks (on my end, at least) as though the freebies won’t reduce the bundle price below $269. I think I saw a $20 reduction for the first two but nothing for the third

Pianoteq (such great software!) just released what I think is its first fully abstract expansion: Modartt: Syngular

I haven’t picked it up yet but I suspect it’s well worth checking out if you’re interesting in physical modeling/modal synthesis.

EDIT: the demos sound good (to me) but are pretty vanilla by my standards–the most distinctive one is probably “Filling Overtones” (track 6 out of 13 on their upper playlist widget). That said, based on their other models I would guess that the parameter range is wide enough to get pretty outré if that’s what you want.

To see the other freebies, check out the bottom of their product page. All 6 are shown there.

iZotope Insight 2, a very nice metering plug-in, is free through the end of 2025 at PluginBoutique.

" SOL is a stellar textural effects engine created in collaboration with Chris Bryant (S1gns Of L1fe). It fuses a powerful Granular Engine with an expansive CLOUDS reverb to create movement, depth, and spacious tonal color.

Shape shimmering atmospheres with radiant detail, or dissolve them into wide cosmic shadows. SOL does not emulate rooms. It transforms space itself."

Sounds good - and free.

I won’t ever understand why “soundtoys” can put so much effort to have such an exhausting procedure for you to get a free plugin

Puts me off too, I suspect they just want data. I’ll take the free little fx, but it is crass.

If it’s trouble for someone to get, they tend to value it more (“IKEA effect”)–I think they’re using the effort to make you feel invested in their ecosystem and are betting it’ll make people more likely to buy the bundle, which looks like it’ll get about another $100 discount if you register all six free plugins

Syngular lacks MPE. Also, you have to pay extra just to wiggle. That irks me. Nice presets though.

Fair! Full MPE has been a request for a while. Maybe if Modartt continues experimenting with this more abstract direction that’ll create more groundwork for the feature. It should support poly AT at least (right?), although IIRC it’s a slightly idiosyncratic implementation.

Noise Engineering : Freequel Bundle featuring Ruina Noise Engineering : Freequel Bundle featuring Ruina

I got this free bundle from Noise engineering a while ago, I haven’t really played much with the synths but Ruina is a nice distortion if you like annihilating sound.
