When first starting out, I wisely ignored all advice not to do this and installed literally every free module available.
I recently saw the error of my ways and severely cut back. Unfortunately, the brand entries in the dropdown filter of the browser remain, albeit greyed out. Shortening said dropdown was actually a large part of this endeavor.
I temporarily fixed it by simply deleting all plugins from the installation folder and having them download again. A few days later, the entries were back. (It might have to do with using the standalone before and then switching to the plugin.)
Is deleting everything like this even a good idea? And does someone know how to do this properly?
Hmm. I think the greyed out ones may be plugins that you are subscribed to in VCV Library but that are not available for your platform. You can manage your subscriptions from the VCV library website.
When you are logged into the Library website there is a light grey PLUGINS button at the right, that’s where you can manage subscriptions:
I should have specified that, but that is exactly what I did to remove the modules. I went through the list of plugins and unsubscribed from all that seemed redundant. The modules from those plugins, which where previously installed, are now indeed gone; just the brand entries are left, like so:
I had the same issue recently. Turned out, the plugins right in the Document folder were all from VCV.1. Where my plugins are actually located is a bit deeper, on Windows 10 that is:
Windows→ Users→[me]→AppData→Local→RACK2
Then, in the plugin-folder, delete the brands you’re unsubscribed from.
