The #d CHEM plugin is officially released and available to subscribe (for free) in the VCV Rack library!
CHEM - (C)ontroller for the (H)aken (E)agan(M)atrix is a software controller for all Haken EaganMatrix devices, including Osmose running EM firmware 10.40 or greater.
The plugin contains 16 modules for working with your hardware.
CHEM is focused on performance. It is not a replacement for the Haken Editor.
It includes preset browsing and navigation, playlists, macros, effects, and access to all general settings – all with voltage control by plugging cables from other Rack modules.
CHEM modules are: Core, Preset, Play, Macro, Pre, Fx, Post, Convolution, Settings, Jack, Sustain, Sos 1, Sos 2, Overlay, XM, and MidiPad.
Congratulations on this momentous achievement, @pachde! I never got a chance to try these out in prerelease but I can’t wait to dig into them soon. Amazing work.
Haken Audio have released a beta of firmware 10.61 (along with the wonderful new native Editor – goodbye MAX).
In my checking, CHEM is looking pretty good so far. If you install the new firmware, you’ll need to clear and re-scan the preset lists. I had a CHEM crash Rack doing this the first time, but it worked just fine the next time, so no damage done.
There are some new options in a couple of remote corners that I will do updates for, but existing functionality appears to be working.
As always, let me know if you run into issues, or have requests.
#d CHEM version 2.03 is now available in the Library for VCV Rack
I’ve added WXYZ outputs to the Core module (with optional slew on Y and Z) so you can drive Rack voices at full EaganMatrix MPE+ resolution. The Preset module adds the ability to navigate presets using a Midi keyboard in keyswitches-style, or by using the knobs, buttons or faders on a MIDI control surface. Click the DIN button to select a Midi device and configure using Midi learn. If you haven’t used CHEM in Rack before, there is a setup process to create the preset database for your Osmose. Takes about an hour for the builtin presets. Start with the Core documentation for a guide to get going.
Here’s a snapshot of the Preset MIDI Navigation configuration dialog, where I’ve configured a nanoKontrol2 to navigate presets using two knobs, and a button for selection.
Oh, that looks great. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I’ll try it out when I have time.
One more thing…Why do many modules in the vcv rack lib have a sticker glued on them? It looks strange.
It’s just branding to make them stand out.
There’s a right click menu option to turn them off (in Core at least, but it affects everything in the plugin).
