if you have Ableton CV Tools (10.1 and up).
You could try this method instead of midi sync, and see if it works for you:
Hint:
If you want to use Rack as VST FX instead, you can drop the Rack in the same track as the CV Clock tool itself, and route it to sidechain channels 3/4
