Adding a library en masse?

I used to have all the Bogaudio plugins. Now I have 3…? I’m puzzled. How can I get them all back?

Are you subscribed to the Bogaudio plugin in the VCV Library? If not, click on the “Subscribe” at the top of VCV Library - Bogaudio and VCV Rack should propose to install all Bogaudio modules next time it checks for module updates

Ah. Sorry for the late reply; I was busy with another project and didn’t check back.

I wasn’t subscribed to the entire plug-in. Subscribing to it did get them all back.

AFAICS it didn’t re-download the library – meaning that Rack seemingly disables some modules that exist on the local HD. That sounds to me like something for a user preference? I can understand the reason for this behavior – previously, plug-ins were all-or-nothing: “+ Add” one Bogaudio module and you have no choice but to have all 100+ – having more atomic control over this is good, no argument there.

But the UX from a returning user’s perspective is a loss of functionality, without warning or explanation. That really nice spectrum analyzer… just gone. Where is it? I dunno. Have to guess. And there’s nothing in the Rack UI to allow the user whether to choose per-module or per-plugin loading.

Also – perhaps I’m just an idiot, but I don’t see how to navigate to the plug-in’s page. https://library.vcvrack.com/ is a search page. Searching brand = Bogaudio does show 111 modules found, but there is no subscribe button on the search results page. Each module has a “Bogaudio” link but this takes you to the same search result – again, no subscribe button. So, to restore the lost functionality, I need to be psychically aware of a seemingly unlinked-to page.

It would be easier if the search page included some kind of link to the subscribe-able plugin page.

To get to the plugins page, click the word ‘Plugins’ at the top of the library page that you linked. (It’s next to ‘Reset Filters’.) It’ll bring you to https://library.vcvrack.com/plugins.

If your point is that the UI for subscribing to a plugin is terrible, a lot of people agree.

The fact that we have to constantly explain it means that it’s just broken, design-wise.

How hard can it be to have buttons side-by-side for all-plugin-modules and add-just-this-module? All the functions are there, just very obscure in the design.
